Job summary

The Howard County Public School System seeks a dedicated educator to lead and support students in an alternative education setting. You will collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers and families to implement MTSS-based interventions, monitor progress and ensure appropriate supports are in place.

Responsibilities include co-teaching support, delivering targeted professional learning, and guiding SST teams, FBA/504 processes, PBIS initiatives and trauma-informed practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education.
• MD state licensure requirements for Secondary Education in any content area.
• MD state licensure requirements for Special Education Grades 6-12; out-of-state applicants encouraged to begin licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management of students identified for alternative education services, including SSPs within MTSS.
• Participate in SST, IIT, FBA, 504 teams and related processes.
• Provide supplemental academic support through tutorials or push-in sessions.
• Support school-wide SEL implementation and teacher facilitation of SEL activities.
• Deliver professional development on SEL, belonging, culturally responsive teaching, and trauma-informed approaches.
• Provide SST consultation for student supports and classroom feedback.
• Monitor progress and fidelity of SSPs, BIPs, and 504 Plans.
• Collaborate on crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.
• Support PBIS and Restorative Justice initiatives.
• Maintain documentation and reporting of student progress and program implementation.
