Job summary

Stockbridge Community School District is seeking a Secondary Special Education Teacher to support resource room and co-taught core instruction. The role involves creating and delivering grade-level content aligned to IEPs in collaboration with a general education teacher.

The teacher will develop and implement specially designed instruction, communicate with parents and agencies, and complete IEPs and related documentation in compliance with Michigan rules.

Qualifications

• Teacher certification with SPED endorsements (LD/CI/ASD/EI).
• Certification and/or willingness to obtain SPED endorsement.
• Preferred: Teacher Consultant Certification for Learning Disabilities.
• Highly Qualified status as required.

Responsibilities

• Resource room and/or co-teaching core curriculum responsibilities.
• Develop and implement grade-level content for IEPs with a general education teacher.
• Write/implement IEPs for students on caseload and design specially designed instruction.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, agencies, and staff.
• Conduct IEP meetings and document in conformance with MI rules.
• Maintain attendance and data/reports as required.

POSITION: Secondary Special Education Teacher

REPORTS TO: Jr/Sr High Principal/Special Education Director

SALARY: Per SEA Contract

STARTING DATE: As Soon As Possible

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1) Teacher certification with any of the following special education endorsements: LD, CI, ASD, EI
• 2) Teacher certification and/or willingness to obtain special education endorsement
• 3) Preferred: Teacher Consultant Certification for Learning Disabilities
• 4) Highly Qualified status

Special Education Teacher:

will be responsible for resource room classes and/or co-teaching core curriculum. This teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate grade level content expectations and activities for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with a general education teacher, and writing/implementing IEPs for students on his/her caseload. This teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing specially designed instruction for students. This teacher must also possess the ability to communicate effectively with all students, their parents/guardians, outside agencies, and district staff.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Classroom experience involving differentiated teaching and specially designed instruction
• Basic knowledge of child development as well as experience applying this knowledge to appropriate developmental activities
• Knowledge of teaching and learning styles including multiple intelligences, auditory, kinesthetic, visual, and language modalities
• Strong data collection and data analysis skills
• Exceptional communication skills including both oral and written skills
• Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to be flexible
• Experience using assistive technology coupled with basic technology skills
• Ability to conduct IEP meetings and complete IEP-related documentation in conformance with the MI Special Education and IDEA rules.
• Ability to conduct student classroom assessments and prepare reports as part of the Multidisciplinary Education Team (MET)
• Ability to report services provided as required by Medicaid.
• Maintain attendance records and other data, records, and reports required by the program supervisor.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Stockbridge Community School District and Ingham ISD.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings.
• Punctual, reliable, and predictable attendance is required
• Other duties as assigned.
