Secondary Special Education Math Teacher - Pre-Algebra

Position Summary

Working from one of our Family Service Centers in Pennsylvania, the Special Education Teacher at Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) is responsible for providing, managing, and delivering specially designed instructional programs through a virtual platform for learners. The teacher utilizes various technology tools to provide instruction, feedback, and support, collaborating regularly with learners, caretakers, and learning coaches to ensure successful delivery of services outlined in each learner’s Individual Education Program (IEP). The teacher will work closely with other staff to ensure the success and compliance of the school’s special education program.

Essential Functions
  1. Serve as the school-based special education case manager for a designated caseload, ensuring compliance with federal and state timelines.
  2. Provide direct instruction and services to learners based on IEP requirements.
  3. Gather data, develop specialized instruction, write goals, and oversee IEP implementation.
  4. Maintain routines for progress monitoring and data tracking, communicating learner progress to families.
  5. Conduct IEP-related meetings virtually.
  6. Maintain accurate data in the school’s management systems and special education software.
  7. Ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulations for the IEP process.
  8. Communicate regularly with caretakers and learning coaches to ensure service delivery.
  9. Collaborate with related service providers weekly for learners requiring related services.
  10. Understand learners’ interests and needs to foster engagement and build relationships.
  11. Drive learner achievement and set high expectations.
  12. Coordinate with teachers to implement specially designed instruction for learners with specific needs.
  13. Address barriers to education and respond promptly to learners, parents, and colleagues.
  14. Participate in state assessments and travel to testing sites as needed.
  15. Engage in professional development and support curriculum integration, including virtual field trips.
  16. Work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, maintaining a professional environment.
  17. Travel for meetings and events as required, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Qualifications
  • Certified to teach in Pennsylvania with a valid Special Education Credential (K-12).
  • Knowledge of content standards and curriculum alignment.
  • Proficiency with office technology, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with virtual teaching platforms (preferred).
  • Valid PA Driver’s License and appropriate insurance (preferred).
Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role operates in a professional office environment, with routine use of standard office equipment. Remote work requires a suitable environment and reliable internet connection. The role is largely sedentary but may require travel to various sites and the ability to lift or move items as needed.
