Job summary

Locust Ridge Quarry, a division of The H&K Group, Inc., seeks a Secondary Plant Operator to oversee plant equipment operation and maintenance at Locust Ridge Quarry in Pocono Lake, PA. The ideal candidate is organized, safety-focused, and able to work with a team to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or one month of related experience and/or training.
• Basic mechanical abilities.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Leadership and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated and organized.
• Safety-focused and able to fit test PPE.

Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Know and follow company start and stop procedures.
• Performs daily greasing and oil checks on crushers and screens.
• Keeps walkways clear of debris and reports spillage issues to superintendent.
• Performs daily guarding inspections and plant checks and reports maintenance issues to superintendent.
• Inspects screen media to ensure proper condition for maximum production.
• Keeps operating booth clean and free from inappropriate materials.
• Carries out duties to meet production schedules.
• Suggests changes to improve efficiency of quarry operations and work crew.
• Assists workers in solving production problems when needed.
• Fills out necessary paperwork daily.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) OR one month of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Basic mechanical abilities
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Leadership and teamwork skills
• Self-motivated and organized
• Safety-focused
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• 3+ months of related experience and/or training
• Experience with equipment maintenance
• Experience with loader operations
• Experience with Q329 caterpillar trackhoe and LT105 portable crusher
• MSHA or other relevant safety certifications

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or fell, and reach with hands and arms
• Frequently required to talk and hear
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities including distance, peripheral, and depth perception

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Noise level is usually loud
