Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit seeks a Special Education Teacher for the Engle Education Center Campus in West Grove, PA. The role focuses on Secondary Life Skills Support with responsibilities across planning, instruction, progress monitoring, and family collaboration.

The candidate will develop IEPs, adapt general education content, and work within a multidisciplinary team to support students with intellectual disabilities and behavioral needs. Strong PDE certification is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education is required.
• 3-5 years experience with students with intellectual disabilities, autism and significant challenging behavior preferred.
• PDE certification in special education is required or willingness to become emergency certified.
• Experience with modifying general education content to meet diverse student needs.

Responsibilities

• Instruct individuals in special education skill areas.
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and teaching methods.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and behavior observations.
• Support objectives and interventions of the educational program.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Maintain contact with parents and professionals concerning student progress.
• Develop IEPs addressing academic, behavioral, and speech needs.
• Prepare reports and records as required; participate as an integral member of the IEP team.
