Inspire Connections Academy is a tuition-free, online public charter school serving students in grades K–12 throughout Idaho. It is also part of the global learning company Pearson. Inspire Connections Academy is authorized under state law by the Idaho Charter School Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Inspire Academics, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Education, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Inspire Connections Academy has met the criteria for educational quality established by Cognia Global Commission. It is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, the Northwest Accreditation Commission, and the Southern Associates of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement. Inspire Connections Academy participates in the PERSI retirement system.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
Working from their home office in Idaho or the Boise office, the Secondary Interventionist will provide targeted support for approximately 150-200 homeroom students in grades 6-12 who are demonstrating challenges with behavior, attendance, engagement, or other barriers to academic success. This role focuses on implementing proactive interventions, supporting Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and collaborating with teachers, families, and administrators to ensure students remain engaged in the virtual school environment.
The Secondary Interventionist will also be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
- Homeroom Support: Support, monitor, and serve as the primary point of contact for approximately 150 - 200 homeroom students throughout the school year. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor student academic progress, attendance, engagement, and behavioral data (truancy) to identify at-risk students.
- Communicate regularly with families and students about attendance, engagement, and academic status.
- Monitor student escalation (contacts and participation) and provide targeted interventions to improve attendance, behavior, participation, contacts, and academic achievement.
- Develop individualized support plans for students in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and families.
- Support students in setting personal and academic goals, reinforcing
- Hosting weekly/daily homeroom
- Support students and families through key school-year cycle tasks, such as welcome calls and intent-to-return.
Intervention Support & Culture Building
- Support the implementation of the PBIS framework and the 4 key
- Develop, monitor, and maintain behavioral intervention systems, including Student Success Plans, positive behavior support, and MTSS.
- Track homeroom student behavior trends and consistently recognize positive
- Coordinate virtual incentives, celebrations, and recognition programs to support positive behavior.
- Provide coaching to teachers on strategies for reinforcing positive student behavior in a virtual setting.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with teachers, counselors, and administrators to align interventions with academic and social-emotional supports.
- Serve as the main point of contact between families and the school for attendance/behavior/academic concerns.
- Work closely with the grade-level Assistant Principals to address truancy concerns and escalate situations requiring administrative intervention.
- Participate in student support team meetings, grade-level meetings, and with the attendance and engagement committee.
- Attend required school and district professional development, in addition to seeking professional growth within the curriculum field(s) of study;
- Proctor state testing, under the supervision of the State Testing Coordinator and the Test Site Lead Teacher at a physical location; and
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Idaho (6-12) Teaching Endorsement
- Applicants must reside in Idaho to apply: Preference will be given to applicants living in the Treasure Valley
- Strong technology skills (especially with Google Suite, Microsoft Windows, and MS Office programs)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies
- The applicant will need a high degree of flexibility, a track record as a team player, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing, field trips, and state testing events (may require overnight travel)
- Private workspace free from distraction, high-speed internet, and, if applicable, appropriate childcare arrangements for any dependent children that may be in the home during scheduled work hours (8-4 MST)
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
