Job Description:

GDIT has an exciting opportunity for a Secondary Firearms Instructor (SFI) to support our clients. The SFI plays a crucial role in firearm training and certification, assisting in the preparation and execution of training sessions, ensuring safety, and providing instruction to diverse audiences in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lead Firearms Instructor during Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) Requalification Training sessions, including preparation, execution, and cleanup.
  • Ensure safety during dry-fire and live-fire training venues.
  • Provide one-on-one instruction and remedial training as needed.
  • Communicate training concepts effectively and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain security of Sensitive Security Information (SSI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an instructor in firearms, defensive tactics, and use of force.
  • Current or former law enforcement or military firearms training certification.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must comply with all federal, state, and local requirements and pass a background check.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed at indoor or outdoor gun ranges, involving handling weapons and ammunition, with exposure to noise and gunpowder residues. Physical effort may be required for handling materials and equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for individuals with disabilities.
