Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students in a secondary behavior support classroom for the 2026-2027 school year in Hastings, Michigan.

This is a full-time, in-person opportunity for an educator passionate about helping students with behavioral and emotional needs achieve academic, social, and personal success while working as part of a collaborative educational team.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
• Experience with middle/high school students in behavioral, emotional, or social-emotional support is preferred.
• Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and Positive Behavior Supports.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and behavioral support in a secondary behavior support classroom.
• Develop and implement IEPs aligned with student goals.
• Utilize evidence-based behavior intervention strategies and PBIS practices.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, service providers, admins, and families.
• Monitor student progress and maintain documentation.
• Contribute to IEP meetings and evaluations.
• Create a structured, safe learning environment.
• Support self-regulation and social skills for student growth.
