Job summary

Southeast Regional Technical High School in Easton, Massachusetts is seeking a full-time custodian for the second shift, Monday–Friday 2:30 PM–10:30 PM. The school serves over 1,700 students in more than 20 career majors.

Responsibilities include keeping buildings neat, shoveling and salting walkways, checking doors and panic hardware, cleaning classrooms and restrooms, and reporting major repairs. The position requires reliability and at least 3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Reliability in attendance and maturity; or
• Minimum 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Shovels, plows, and sands walkways, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
• Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are closed or open as appropriate and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture as needed.
• Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.
• Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily as needed.
• Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
• Keeps the building and grounds free from rubbish.
• Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
• Makes minor building repairs.
• Reports major repairs promptly to the Supervisor.
• Reports to Supervisor all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing.
• Assumes responsibility before leaving, that all doors and windows are secure, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
• Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
• Moves furniture or equipment within the buildings as required for various activities and as directed by Supervisor.
• Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
• All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or the Supervisor of Custodians.
