Job summary

AeroPlastics Inc in Renton, WA is seeking a paint prep and finishing technician to prepare surfaces, mix paints, spray parts, and document results. You will follow detailed work orders, maintain a clean booth, and ensure parts meet specifications for daily production targets.

The role emphasizes safety, accurate color and viscosity adjustment, and timely communication with the next operation. Prior painting experience is preferred and physical work is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior painting experience required.
  • Understand paint mixing, cure time and paint expiration dates.
  • Able to pass respirator fit test through a third party.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs or more with assistance.
  • Basic reading, writing, math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Use sanders to prep parts for paint and review work orders.
  • Sand and prep surfaces to requirement and meet daily Takt times.
  • Prepare and mix paint using scales and mixers.
  • Paint parts to meet requirements and document information per work instructions.
  • Package and ship parts to next operation with correct paperwork.
  • Maintain paint booth, filters, and spray equipment to high standards.
  • Maintain inventory and remove expiring items from the work area.
  • Ensure a clean, safe work environment and democracy of quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Description
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Use sanders and similar tools to ensure parts are prepped for paint
  • Routinely review work orders, work on correct operations and jobs
  • Sand and prep surfaces to requirement and meet daily Takt times
  • Prepare and mix paint to the requirement using weight scales and mixers
  • Painting parts to meet requirements
  • Document all required information as per the work instructions
  • Package and prepare parts for shipment to next operation
  • Verify correct part count and paperwork accompanies product
  • Maintain your work area, keep it stocked, clean and organized
  • Maintain the area and paint booth by changing filters as required, documenting maintenance, monitor and document nanometer readings, replacing diret traps, mats, etc.
  • Maintain inventory control of supplies and remove expiring items from work system and work area
  • Maintain spray equipment to the highest standards
  • Reviewing work an delivering blemish free parts to paint
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
  • Must keep area clean and organized at all times
  • Must maintain a FOD free work environment
  • Ability to use a DA sander for several hours
  • Ability to use a paint spray gun for several hours
  • Lift up to 50 pounds or more with assistance
  • Basic reading, writing, math and computer skills
  • Detail oriented with an ability to multi task and problem solve
  • Proficient use of paint guns, including the ability to adjust it for humidity and viscosity to achieve required paint results
  • Full understanding of cleaning a paint gun including disassembly and reassembly for maintaining a clean gun for high quality paint results
  • Proficient in mixing paint components (paint, thinner, hardener)
  • Knowledge of Solvent and Waterborne paints
  • Proficient use of Zahn EZ cup and DIN flow cup
  • Knowledge of using a PosiPen and Wet Film Thickness Gauge
  • Must have the ability to compare color charts and actual painted parts
  • Must be able to differentiate colors to accurately identify defects in product paint
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Understand paint mixing, cure time and paint expiration dates
  • Prior experience painting required
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. or more with assistance
  • Basic reading, writing, math and computer skills
  • Must be able to be approved for a respirator through a fit test through a third party
Application:

The final compensation offered to the candidate may be based on geographical location, work experience and/or skill level. Additions to the compensation package, including but not limited to paid time off, insurance benefits and 401(k) eligibility will be outlined at the time of the job offer.

Compensation range: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
