Summary/Objective

The Box Machine Operator position operates the box former machines and coordinates the process to ensure safety and efficiency.

Essential Functions

• Performs machine start-up procedures, basic controls, and machine operations. Understands material requirements/types and performs product handling procedures.
• Feeds carton into box former machine according to customer and/or company's specifications.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions of the machines to the department supervisor and maintenance department.
• Complies with all food safety and GMP requirements.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.
• Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: Understand schedule, cleaning, and basic maintenance of the machinery.
• Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong verbal communication, reading, writing and math skills required.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to operate hand and electric pallet jack to move loads up to 1000 Lbs.
• Strong sense of urgency and personal accountability.
• Detail oriented and organized.
  
  

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to work in different areas and near wet floors.
• The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
