John Soules Foods is seeking a Second Shift Maintenance Supervisor in Valley, AL to oversee maintenance technicians and ensure reliable production lines. Responsibilities

  • Determine schedules and assignments for maintenance work based on priority and equipment.
  • Monitor employees' performance and PM work.
  • PM and equipment repairs.
  • Monitor inventories and shop conditions.
  • Investigate accidents and implement preventive actions.
  • Assist hires, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain records of time, production, repairs and testing.
  • Develop and evaluate maintenance policies.
  • Counsel employees on work issues and skill development.
  • Assess installations and repairs from inspection results.
  • Arrange training on safety and maintenance standards.
  • Inspect work areas and train on safety.
  • Inspect, test, and measure completed work to ensure standards.
  • Request materials and replacement parts.
  • Perform skilled repairs using tools and equipment.

Job Summary

Supervises maintenance technicians in the performance or their maintenance technician responsibilities.

Education And Experience
  • The successful candidate must have a high school diploma and/or equivalent
  • Some college preferred,
  • A minimum of three (3) years of industrial maintenance supervisor experience
Required Skills/Abilities
  • The successful candidate must have a high school diploma and/or equivalent
  • Bi‑lingual is also a plus.
  • Solid experience with both predictive and preventative maintenance
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Providing oversight and technical expertise regarding PM’s and repair of plant equipment
  • Trouble shooting and implementing corrective action
  • Hands on position requiring extensive presence on the production floor
  • Weekly verification of PM’s and work orders
Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
  • Monitor employees’ work levels and review work performance.
  • PM and equipment breakdown repairs.
  • Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries and prepare reports of findings. Be preventive.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
  • Compile operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Counsel employees about work‑related issues and assist employees to correct job‑skill deficiencies.
  • Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools and gauges to verify conformance to standards and repair requirements.
  • Request materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations, using equipment such as hand and power tools, hydraulic presses and shears, and welding equipment.
Work Environment

This job is carried out in a professional office setting and involves using standard office equipment like laptops, desk phones, and smartphones. Regular visits to production facilities may also be required. During those visits, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperatures, and electrical shock and vibration risks. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Physical Demands

Employees must be able to stand, walk, or sit; use their hands for tasks; reach with their arms; and communicate verbally. Occasional lifting or moving of objects is necessary, along with close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
