Job summary

Alicat Scientific, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona, is seeking a second shift Machine Shop Operator to join our hands-on team. You’ll work with saws, lathes, horizontal mills, and other equipment, while assisting CNC machinists and keeping materials flowing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently and stand for extended periods.
• Basic math and computer skills; Excel experience a plus.
• Must be detail-oriented, accountable, and self-motivated.
• Machine shop experience helpful but not required.
• Willingness to learn, grow, and take ownership of your role.

Responsibilities

• Operate saws and prepare raw materials per job specifications.
• Assist CNC machinists in machine setup and operation.
• Deburr and sand machined parts using tools and finishing equipment.
• Track inventory and material usage in logs and spreadsheets.
• Perform routine maintenance on saws and workspace.
• Move materials safely using appropriate tools/equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
• Follow all company safety protocols and standard procedures.
