Qualifications

• 36 months of machine shop practice or machine shop inspection; aircraft industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine adherence to blueprints and workmanship standards by visual examination and measurements.
• Perform complex layouts and setups on surface plate; check measurements to close tolerances.
• Inspect parts made from steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, etc., including bolts, forgings, castings, extrusions and purchased parts.
• Determine inspection procedures for new machine parts and suggest improvements.
• Assign duties to lower-grade inspectors and check their work for accuracy.
• May inspect vendor-made machined parts, forgings, castings, etc. per specifications.
