Qualifications

• Certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
• Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
• Adequate manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Complete basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
• Locate, retrieve, and return material using forklifts (e.g., Hyster).
• Perform daily pre-use forklift inspections (brakes, forks, hydraulics, horn, lights, tires).
• Operate equipment safely in a high-traffic yard environment.
• Communicate with crane operators, truck drivers, and ground staff via hand signals or radios.
• Confirm load stability and ensure clear path prior to movement.
• Handle material to prevent damage or contamination and report issues.
• Position work pieces on machines using a forklift.
• Pull and assemble orders from shipping documents.
• Tag material for proper identification and complete documentation.
• Move material between receiving/production and storage/other areas.
• May operate a yard truck for loading/unloading trailers.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
• Sort material by size/type/code on racks/bins.
• Run daily and ad-hoc inventory checks for tagging accuracy.
• Report irregularities to supervisor and restock material.
• May drive non-DOT local delivery vehicle when needed.
