Job summary

Meridian Waste is seeking a full-time, second-shift mechanic to maintain a fleet of commercial waste trucks and support equipment. This role suits a newer diesel or automotive mechanic eager to build heavy-duty truck experience with an experienced maintenance team.

You will perform PM services, inspections, minor repairs, and tire/brake work, while documenting all activity and following safety procedures. Training and mentorship are provided to grow your skills.

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience with diesel trucks or heavy equipment.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs safely.
• Must pass pre-employment MVR check and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on commercial trucks and support equipment.
• Inspect trucks for safe operation and identify repairs.
• Review DVIRs, perform minor repairs, and document work.
• Replace tires, brakes, and related components as needed.
• Lubricate, service, and maintain electrical systems and hoses.
• Record inspections and repairs with parts used.
• Communicate safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
• Keep tools and work areas clean and organized.
