VARITE INC in Wilmington, DE seeks a Technical Associate - Research & Development for on-site work in a 12-month contract. The role supports R&D and manufacturing with FIB-SEM analyses, sample prep, and data reporting.

Training during daytime hours is provided for the first three months, with a shift that starts in late afternoon. The candidate will work under experienced scientists, perform advanced microscopy techniques, and ensure safety and proper waste disposal.

Formación

• Bachelor of Science in chemistry, materials science, physics, or engineering or equivalent knowledge gained on-the-job.
• Skills with electron microscopy.
• Commitment to laboratory safety.
• Ability to work in a team under tight timelines and competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare samples for analysis using mechanical polishers, plasma or sputter coaters, and FIB-SEM cross-section milling and lift-out procedures.
• Perform FIB-SEM analyses including imaging, EDS, and EBSD, and assess data quality.
• Review and organize collected data for reporting to customers.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance following established procedures.
• Dispose of laboratory waste according to protocols.
• Work second-shift hours and coordinate with first-shift FIB-SEM operator.
• Adhere to all safety protocols.
