Job summary

Hornblower City Cruises is seeking a Second Mate to serve as navigation officer for the Training Support Vessel fleet. You will maintain nautical charts, prepare voyage plans, and report progress to the Master while performing routine maintenance as directed by the Chief Mate.

The role requires STCW-compliant certification, a valid US passport, and the ability to obtain TWIC and CAC. You will participate in watches and safety procedures aboard high‑speed passenger vessels.

Qualifications

• Second Mate with VSO, VSPSD, STCW credentials.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• United States Passport required; capable of obtaining TWIC and CAC.
• U.S. Coast Guard license/certificate with OICNW; Able Seafarer-Deck; RFPNW; PSC; Medical Care Provider; GMDSS; ECDIS (Unlimited).
• Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as navigation officer for the assigned training vessel.
• Maintain charts and publications; prepare voyage plans.
• Make daily voyage progress reports to the Master.
• Perform cleaning, painting and maintenance as directed by the Chief Mate.
• Stand navigation watches as required.
