Job summary

Lindblad Expeditions in Seattle seeks a licensed Second Mate to join the bridge team aboard a U.S.-flagged vessel. You will perform navigation watches, chart corrections, and pilot operations while mentoring crew and ensuring safety systems are ready for every expedition.

This demanding role requires calm judgment under pressure, strong crisis management, and a passion for delivering an exceptional guest experience as you plan voyages, manage small-boat operations, and uphold ISM/Safety

Qualifications

• Experience as Mate operating a passenger vessel with navigation/watch responsibilities.
• Experience navigating port-to-port across diverse waters and environmental conditions.
• Strong crisis management and decision-making under pressure.
• Excellent customer service and professional demeanor.
• Solid time management and ability to multitask under schedules.

Responsibilities

• Performs bridge navigation and deck watch; determines position using GPS, radar, visual cues, depth sounders.
• Maintains logs and supports docking, anchoring, piloting, and maneuvering.
• Drives small boats and assists with guest and crew movements.
• Maintains voyage plans, chart corrections, and training documentation.
• Participates in safety drills and ISM compliance.
