• Build understanding of place value, addition, subtraction, measurement, and mathematical problem-solving.
• Use assessments and classroom observations to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
• Provide differentiated lessons, small-group instruction, and targeted interventions.
• Maintain a structured classroom and reinforce schoolwide SOAR expectations.
• Address behavioral concerns through appropriate redirection, documentation, and collaboration with families and support staff.
• Collaborate with exceptional children’s and English learner staff to implement required accommodations and services.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families.
• Participate in instructional coaching, professional development, team meetings, and assigned supervision duties.

Position: Full-Time | Reports To: Principal/Director of Academics

Carter G. Woodson School is seeking a dedicated Second Grade Teacher who helps scholars strengthen their skills, develop independence, and grow through challenging and supportive instruction.

Position Overview

The Second Grade Teacher provides standards-based instruction in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. This position emphasizes reading accuracy and fluency, comprehension, written expression, mathematical reasoning, and independent learning habits.
