Job summary

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa seeks a Second Chance Ranch Assistant Supervisor to lead daily ranch operations, including animal care, staff coaching, and program coordination. This hands-on role requires managing a team, ensuring safety, and maintaining facilities in Des Moines metro.

A strong background in horse and barn operations and leadership is essential for success. You will work across departments to coordinate adoptions, volunteers, and training while upholding ARL safety standards

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year animal-care experience.
• At least 1 year leadership/coordination experience.
• Experience with horses, livestock, or barn operations.
• Experience training staff and scheduling preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Valid driver''s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily ranch operations: feeding, cleaning, enrichment, rehab, training, and animal handling.
• Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and feedback.
• Coordinate scheduling, onboarding, and staff coverage.
• Coordinate adoptions, fosters, transfers, and transports.
• Maintain animal records and support program reporting.
• Ensure safety and compliance with ARL standards.
