Job summary

Glacier Fish Company is seeking an Oiler/Wiper to join our vessel operations in the North Pacific region. You will monitor engine room systems, perform rounds, log maintenance and assist with fuel, lubrication and cooling tasks to keep propulsion equipment running smoothly.

Experience with marine engines and safety systems is preferred; knowledge of EPA logs and engine room records can be beneficial. Expect long trips (13–24 days), physical duties (lifting up to 50 lbs), and strict safety

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience as an Oiler/Wiper or 3rd Assistant preferred.
• Ability to work 12-13 hrs/day for 7 days/week in all weather conditions.
• Repetitively lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Self-motivated team-player.
• Understand instructions and safety rules in English.
• Must be able to provide 2 recent positive references from previous employers.
• Capable of climbing and descending steep stairs and vertical ladders.
• Share spaces with others including crew quarters, dining areas, and bathrooms.

Responsibilities

• Familiar with all vessel equipment and systems, ability to recognize normal operation of all equipment.
• Performs scheduled rounds, filling out and maintaining engine room log book, oil record book, sewage discharge and EPA logs.
• Bunkers fuel, lube and waste oil, includes transfers on vessel, maintenance of correct tank levels and logs.
• Monitors and performs scheduled maintenance per operational hours or timed intervals on engine room equipment, performing daily check list of equipment and routine cleaning.
• Maintains proper oil and water levels and manages filtration in all propulsion equipment; main engines, reduction gears, PTO gears, servo system, bow thruster engine and gear.
• Monitors and maintains correct water treatment dosing for Engines and boiler.
