Job summary

Cardinal Health seeks an experienced External Reporting professional to drive quarterly and annual SEC filings and oversee US GAAP accounting matters. You will manage the monthly close, review journals, and ensure internal controls while coordinating with FP&A, Investor Relations, Legal and external auditors.

The role requires 5+ years in finance/accounting with public company or SEC reporting exposure; supervisory experience and CPA are preferred. Hybrid work in Columbus, OH is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required or preferred.
• 5+ years experience in related field, public accounting or SEC reporting preferred.
• Supervisory or managerial experience with direct reports preferred.
• CPA preferred.

• Identifies, researches, and documents US GAAP matters and accounting issues.
• Manages monthly close process including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Oversees outsourced staff and ensures policy compliance; partners with staff.
• Defines and executes internal controls to manage financial risk.
• Identifies opportunities for improvements and drives cross-functional initiatives.

Job description

Ideal candidate will be local to the Columbus, Ohio area with the ability to work a hybrid schedule.

What External Reporting contributes to Cardinal Health

Finance oversees the accounting, tax, financial plans and policies of the organization, establishes and maintains fiscal controls, prepares and interprets financial reports, oversees financial systems and safeguards the organization’s assets.

External Reporting is responsible for the preparation and review of financial information to be released outside of the organization such as to the SEC, international statutory regulators and other organizations as well as for the research, interpretation, and communication of related accounting matters.

Responsibilities

• Drives timely completion of quarterly and annual SEC filings concurrently through coordination with FP&A, Investor Relations, Legal, Tax and External Auditors.
• Possesses the relevant experiences and capabilities to identify, research, evaluate, conclude on, and document both technical US GAAP matters and operational accounting issues.
• Assists in the management of the monthly financial close process, including reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and performing timely review of results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP.
• Oversees work conducted by outsourced staff and maintains the integrity of accounting records by ensuring that outsourced staff comply with accounting policies and procedures. Effectively partners without sourced staff to take necessary course correcting actions.
• Defines and executes internal controls to manage financial risk.
• Is able to strategically and effectively identify improvement opportunities and identifies the appropriate tools, approach, and cross functional involvement to execute on opportunities that are identified.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent work experience, preferred
• 5+ years experience in related field, public accounting or SEC reporting experience, preferred
• Supervisory or Managerial experience with direct reports, preferred
• CPA preferred

Anticipated salary range: $106,700-$152,400
