Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to support maintenance programs in Lake Charles, LA. The role involves diagnosing and repairing a broad range of ground support gear, with potential shift work and overtime to meet mission needs.

Qualified candidates will have 8+ years of hands-on GSE experience, strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, welding and carpentry skills, and the ability to lead teams and mentor others.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 8+ years hands-on experience maintaining ground support or similar systems.
• Mastery of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose complex equipment problems independently.
• Experience in production/flight line with strict safety/quality standards.
• Welding and carpentry experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on ground support equipment.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and safety for modifications.
• Maintain records in maintenance management system.
• Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for junior staff.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Support readiness and availability metrics.
