Job summary

Finley Asphalt and Sealing, Inc. seeks a dependable Roller Operator to safely operate breakdown, rubber tire, and finish rollers, ensuring proper compaction of asphalt surfaces.

You will perform routine maintenance, manage passes, and adjust speed for material temperature and compaction requirements. The role requires 3+ years in asphalt rolling, knowledge of rollers and heavy equipment, and ability to work in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ of asphalt rolling experience.
• Knowledge of Rollers and other heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of construction materials, construction processes and industry requirements.
• Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
• 3+ experience within the asphalt industry.
• 2+ years’ experience operating Breakdown Rollers, Rubber Tire Rollers and/or Finish Rollers is required

Responsibilities

• Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
• Safely operate roller in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling subgrade and asphalt to desired compaction and smoothness.
• Determine speed and direction of machine based on material compressibility and temperature.
• Push hand roller and pound surfaces where not accessible.
• Operate self-propelled rollers and related equipment to compact surfaces.
• Massage hot mix asphalt into place with the Breakdown roller.
• Use Rubber Tire Roller for desired compaction.
• Apply final finish and remove imperfections with Finish Roller.
• Operate Pad Foot Roller and Smooth Drum to seal surfaces.
• Other heavy equipment and related duties as required.
• Roller operators may also operate Steel Drum and Pad Foot Rollers as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.
