Job summary

The City of Billings Parks, Recreation and Public Lands department is seeking a seasonal Youth Basketball Coach to demonstrate, instruct and develop basic basketball skills for 3rd–5th graders. Equipment is provided, and pay ranges from $14.00 to $16.00 per hour.

Season schedules include Girls Basketball from October 19, 2026 to December 5, 2026, and Boys Basketball from January 4, 2027 to February 13, 2027, with practices Monday and Wednesday evenings and potential extra sessions on other

Qualifications

The instructor's level of play should be at the high school level.
Enjoy working with kids.
Knowledge of basketball rules and bylaws preferred.
Operate timing devices and/or the official scorebook for the designated sport.
Professional, confident, and capable of dealing with players, parents, and fans.
Reliable transportation to and from games and training.
Must meet minimum age requirements.

Responsibilities

Serve as a positive role model to players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches by following all rules and demonstrating good sportsmanship.
Create planned practices and games at an appropriate level for each participant.
Organize the players to participate in games.
Give each child an equal opportunity to participate in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Act as a gym supervisor and be responsible for setting up/storage of equipment while monitoring the gym.
Maintain facility cleanliness and enforce facility rules.
Report scores, issues, and updates to recreation staff promptly.
Act as a gym supervisor and liaison for the parks and recreation department.
Be responsible for overseeing the school facility.
