Job summary

The City of O’Fallon is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Contract Umpires to officiate youth league games for players ages 7U–14U. This role involves a commitment to support youth development through sports, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

Qualified candidates will officiate games, maintain flow, enforce rules, and represent the league with fairness. The compensation ranges from $50 to $55 per game, and the work environment is supportive and community-focused.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous umpiring experience is a plus, but not required.
• Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to learn league-specific rules.

Responsibilities

• Officiate recreational baseball and/or softball games using NHYBL rules.
• Lead pre-game plate meetings and conduct field inspections.
• Maintain game flow and promote safety and sportsmanship.
• Make confident calls and communicate clearly with coaches and players.
• Manage game pace and weather-related decisions.
• Represent the league with professionalism and integrity.

Skills

Knowledge of baseball and/or softball rules

Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities

Ability to manage youth sports environments calmly and confidently
