Job summary

FAO Schwarz in New York is seeking a Seasonal Toy Soldier for the holiday season. You will welcome guests, perform the opening ceremony, and embody the Toy Soldier persona across brand experiences.

Part-time role (20-29 hours weekly) at either FAO Schwarz flagship or Nordstrom boutique, with on-site duties, guest engagement, and social media participation; benefits include discounts, telehealth, commuter benefits, and 401k matching.

About This Role

Join us for the Holiday Season. The Seasonal Toy Soldier will be responsible for welcoming our guests as they enter the store, as well as conducting the daily opening ceremony. The Toy Soldier is synonymous with FAO Schwarz and is tasked with representing the brand to the highest levels of excellence to fully engage our guests.

Part-time (20-29 hours a week)

Location: This role may be assigned to either of our New York locations:

• FAO Schwarz Flagship at 30 Rock: 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10111
• FAO Schwarz Boutique at Nordstrom, 57th Street: 225 W 57th St, New York, NY 10019

What You’ll Do

• Engage each guest to deliver an outstanding experience throughout their visit.
• Build connections with visitors and passers-by alike, remaining in character at all times and bringing a sense of fun to the day.
• Act as the personality of the store and build rapport with both children and adults by adapting your style to make them feel welcome.
• Lead the daily opening ceremony for the store with flair and uniqueness.
• Act as greeter for the store in all types of weather, ensuring all guests feel welcome as they start their store journey.
• Be an expert in the local NYC area, ready to supply relevant information to guests on demand as store concierge.
• Participate in social media posts in full Toy Soldier persona.
• Participate in filmed or live video content for social media.
• Travel for special events with the company or partners on a pre-agreed basis.
• Lead store tours, including private events and VIP tours.
• Tailor key talking points to suit your audience and deliver key information with a personal flair.
• Experience in a performance, acting, music, or dance background a plus.
• Familiarity with a premium or experience-based retailer a plus.
• An engaging and theatrical personality that can captivate an audience in all environments and situations.
• Remain positive and in character for extended periods of time without losing any of your Toy Soldier magic.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and bending, twisting, and standing for long periods of time in all types of weather.
• Able to be in costume during all types of weather.
• $21.00 - 23.00/hr + Store Incentive Bonus (Annual salary estimated based on average hours worked)
