Job summary

YMCA of Silicon Valley is seeking a dedicated Teen Adventure Camp Assistant Director for Camp Campbell in Boulder Creek, CA. This full-time seasonal role oversees teen adventure trips, trains staff, and supports overall camp operations from May through August 2027.

You will supervise counselors, plan trips, manage safety protocols, and coordinate with the leadership team to provide a high-quality camper experience while maintaining health and welfare standards on all trips.

Qualifications

• Experience in a camp setting (programming in a camp setting preferred).
• Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder preferred; CPR and First Aid Certification can be obtained upon hire.
• Class B license preferred; YMCA approved driver (can be obtained upon hire; requires clean driving record).
• Good character and ability to relate to youth and peers; self-motivated with off-site work flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Summer Camp Director in planning and carrying out pre-camp and in-service staff training.
• Coordinate and program all trip elements including food ordering, drivers, and day trips.
• Contribute to the leadership team in evening programs, campfires, and daily/weekly schedules.
• Directly supervise and appraise teen adventure camp counselors on trips.
• Maintain records and coordinate with other camp departments; support campers and staff health and safety.
• Attend all teen adventure trips, on-site and off-site; lead and provide support as needed.
