Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional for in-person service at a local tax office in Wisconsin. You will prepare returns, interview clients to assess financial situations, identify tax savings, and provide advisory support with a client-centered approach.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in tax prep, strong communication, and will complete required IRS/state coursework. Prior use of GoSystem or Ultratax is a plus in a collaborative, office-based team environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts clearly to clients.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individuals and businesses.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications, then provide clear recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
