Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to explain tax concepts clearly
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS and state requirements
• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, or finance
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential
• Experience completing complex returns, tax planning, audit support, or tax notice resolution
• Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax software
• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
• Experience in consultative/advisory client relationships

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications
• Provide clear, personalized recommendations and savings opportunities
• Build trusted client relationships with empathetic, consultative service
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive office environment
