Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare complex tax returns and advise clients at a local tax office.

You will interview clients, identify savings opportunities, and deliver consultative service while collaborating with a team in a client-focused environment. Qualified candidates have tax knowledge, client-facing experience, and strong communication skills; continuing education and IRS/state requirements must be met.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• Preferred: 5+ years of tax preparation, accounting or finance experience.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) or other IRS Circular 230 credential is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and tax implications.
• Provide personalized recommendations and identify tax savings opportunities.
• Deliver empathetic, consultative service and build client relationships.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive office environment.
