Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. seeks a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to guide clients through complex tax situations, prepare accurate returns, and identify savings opportunities.

You’ll interview clients, provide personalized recommendations, and build lasting relationships using Block's training and technology. Compensation includes an hourly rate and incentive plan; this in-person role is based in a local H&R Block tax office.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns
• Experience in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including explaining tax concepts in client-friendly language
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field (preferred)
• 5+ years experience in tax preparation/finance
• CPA/EA or IRS Circular 230 credential (preferred)
• Experience completing complex returns and tax planning (preferred)
• Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax (preferred)
• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (preferred)
• Experience in advisory client relationships (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns for diverse and complex situations
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and tax implications
• Provide personalized tax-saving recommendations and product opportunities
• Provide IRS support, notices, and audit guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team and maintain a client-focused office environment
