Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal tax associate to greet clients in-person at a local tax office, gather information, and prepare returns with training. You’ll provide clear explanations and recommendations, while identifying tax-saving opportunities and supporting client relationships through teamwork.

Prior tax experience isn’t required as training is provided. Successful candidates typically have completed the H&R Block Income Tax Course, strong communication skills, and comfort using AI tools

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
• Ability to work 15-35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
