Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Advisor to prepare complete, accurate tax returns for diverse client situations, including individuals and businesses. You’ll interview clients to understand finances, offer personalized recommendations, and identify tax-saving opportunities using H&R Block products.

You will provide IRS support, audit guidance, and collaborate with teammates to maintain a client-focused office environment, with training and technology backing your tax expertise.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment1.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant H&R Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
