Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Tax Advisor for an in-person role at a local tax office in Texas. You will prepare tax returns, interview clients to assess their financial situations, and offer personalized recommendations to maximize savings while delivering empathetic service.

You will collaborate with colleagues, provide IRS support, and participate in an incentive plan that rewards impact as you build tax expertise and serve clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements.
• Enrollment in or completion of required tax courses or assessments as part of HR Block program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant HR Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
