Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Advisor to prepare accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses. You’ll conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances, provide personalized recommendations, and identify tax savings opportunities using Block tools.

The role is in-person at a local H&R Block office, with training and potential incentive pay based on performance. Prior tax experience and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles.
• Strong verbal and written communication, able to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for diverse and complex situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances and tax implications, then provide recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities and Block products.
• Provide IRS notice assistance and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team to maintain a positive client-focused environment.
