Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Advisor to prepare accurate tax returns and deliver personalized guidance to clients with complex tax situations. This role emphasizes client interviews, tax planning, and leveraging H&R Block products to maximize savings.

You will work in-person at a local H&R Block tax office, collaborating with teammates in a supportive, client-focused environment while receiving industry-leading training and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping including individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication and the ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations (individual and business).
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances and life changes, then provide personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment.
