Job summary

Tailored Brands, Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Tailor/Alterations Staff in a warehouse environment to perform alterations on made-to-measure and ready-to-wear garments.

You will follow ticketed instructions, measure and mark lines, shorten or lengthen parts, relocate buttons, and press items as needed. Qualifications include proven tailoring experience, good dexterity, ability to read tickets, and knowledge of RF scanners.

Qualifications

• Experience in tailoring and alterations.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to read picking tickets and follow instructions.
• Proficiency with sewing machines and pressing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Follow tailoring/alteration processes and instructions from ticket comments.
• Measure, mark, and alter garments as specified.
• Shorten/lengthen sleeves, legs, waist, or chest; adjust collars or lapels.
• Relocate or replace buttons; resew with machine or hand sewing.
• Press garments and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Operate and maintain sewing machines and pressing equipment as needed.

This includes organizing work load; carry out all tailoring/alterations according to the fitter’s specifications.What You’ll Do | Key AccountabilitiesFollows required tailoring/alteration processes and instructions based on picking ticket commentsMeasures and marks tailoring/alteration linesPins altering folds or marks on cloth at seams, darts, or necklines to indicate tailoring/alterations to be madeShortens or lengthens garment parts, such as sleeves or legs is requiredExpands or narrows garment parts, such as waist or chest as neededRaises or lowers garment parts, such as collars or lapels as neededRelocate or replace buttons on coats, vests and shirtsRe-sews garment, using needle and thread or sewing machineTrims excess material, using scissorsRemoves stitches from garment, using ripper or razor bladePresses garment, using hand iron or pressing machine as neededMaintain a clean and safe work environmentMaintain sewing machines in good working orderPerforms work as assigned by department supervisorSkills & ExperiencePrevious experience in tailoring/alterationsGood hand/eye coordination and manual dexterityGood physical and mental stamina to perform tasks for a long period of timeWorking knowledge of industrial Blind Stitch and Sleeve feller sewing machines.
