Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Uptown is seeking a Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech for a temporary seasonal assignment. The role supports the surgical team, maintaining a sterile field and preparing supplies across procedures.

The position emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and ability to adapt to changing patient conditions. Potential start date is late September, continuing through the end of 2026.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with surgical tech training.
• Certification as required by the state/center.
• Ambulatory surgical center experience preferred.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and patient safety.
• Strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs for surgical procedures and maintains a sterile field.
• Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures.
• Supports quality improvement activities within the Surgery Center.
• Collaborates with staff, engages with patients, and coordinates with physicians.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a joint venture surgical hospital between Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), United Surgical Partners International (USPI), and local physicians. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for to the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private Inpatient rooms, a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties.

Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Uptown

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certification as required by state and/or center
• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
• Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
• Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians
