Job Title: Seasonal Street Department Worker

Job Status: Full Time

Work Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday

Job Description:

The Seasonal Street Department Worker will assist Street Department Staff with tasks that will include but are not limited to mowing, painting pavement markings, street maintenance, equipment maintenance, concrete work, and other Street Department related activities as needed.

Essential Duties and Abilities Required:

• Maintain equipment and tools needed to perform daily tasks
• Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and vehicles needed for daily operations
• May work on rough terrain
• Work around hazardous equipment
• Work around excessive noise from various power tools and equipment (lawn mower, weed whipper, chainsaws, wood chipper, etc.)
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Work well with co-workers, supervisors, and general public
• Must be able to communicate well with others and represent the City of Decorah in a professional manner
• Ability to do manual work requiring strength and agility
• Maintain a consistent and reliable attendance record
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned
• Performs Street Department duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid drivers’ license
• Experience or education in the public works field
• Knowledge of ArcGIS preferred

Work environment:

• Ability to work in hot weather
• Must be in good physical condition, able to properly lift a minimum of 100 lbs.
