Responsibilities

• Manage waste, recycling, and compost per hotel procedures.
• Assist with basic food prep or event setup during peak periods.

We are actively searching for Steward/Dishwasher

The Seasonal Steward is the engine of the Beacon Grand’s culinary operations. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all back-of-house areas, ensuring that our culinary team has the tools they need and our guests dine on flawless chinaware. As a member of the heart-of-house team, you will uphold the "Beacon Grand Standard" of hygiene and safety during our busiest seasons, contributing to an elevated dining experience in one of San Francisco’s most iconic hotels.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate industrial dishwashing machinery and manual three-compartment sinks to clean and sanitize all china, glassware, silverware, pots, and pans.
• Sort and store all clean equipment in their proper locations; ensure the kitchen line is consistently stocked with necessary plates and tools.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen floors, walk-in refrigerators, and prep areas through regular sweeping, mopping, and debris removal.
• Remove trash, recycling, compost, cardboard, and food waste according to hotel procedures. Keep
  waste and loading areas clean and follow proper waste‑separation practices
• Efficiently manage trash, recycling, and composting removal in accordance with San Francisco’s sustainability guidelines.
• Handle chemical cleaning agents safely and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Report any equipment malfunctions to the Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager immediately.
• Assist with basic food prep or event setup during high‑volume periods or special holiday functions.
• Assist with the movement, setup, replenishment, breakdown, and return of food‑service
  equipment and supplies for hotel events. This may include chafing dishes, racks, trays, plates, flatware, glassware,
  serving utensils, hot boxes, carts, and related equipment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a high‑volume restaurant or luxury hotel environment is preferred, but we are willing to train candidates with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours) and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast‑paced, high-pressure environment.
• Flexibility to work a seasonal schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, etc.).
• Basic English communication skills to interact with the culinary and stewarding teams.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast‑paced kitchen environments.
