Job summary

MnDOT District 6 is filling up to 32 temporary and/or emergency snowplow operator positions across district truck stations, including Red Wing and nearby towns. Duties include maintaining roadways for snow and ice control, inspecting equipment, and coordinating with dispatch for weather-related operations.

Positions may be full-time or part-time, with shifts that can extend beyond a standard day and include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction from any state.
• Must obtain Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of placement.
• Veterans may be eligible for a waiver of CDL based on military experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post storm cleanup
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing chemical
• Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management
• Performs traffic control set-ups and/or provides notification to dispatch of disabled vehicles
