Job summary

Solitude Mountain Resort invites enthusiastic Ski & Ride Instructors for the upcoming winter season. Teach alpine skiing and snowboarding to individuals and groups, focusing on safety, fun, and learning. Compensation includes an hourly base rate plus incentives, with higher rates for certified instructors.

Non-certified start at $20/hour, with Level I–III raises based on certification and terrain. Training, exam reimbursement, and growth opportunities are provided in-house for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Ability to make/skidded turns on blue groomed runs (ski instructors)
• Ability to link skidded turns on blue groomed runs (snowboard)
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage a variety of ages and personalities
• Willingness to work with children aged 3–13
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in mountain conditions for up to 7 hours per day
• Ability to work with minimal supervision after daily assignments are made
• Assist in preparation of learning areas and with registration and lunch duties

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain skiing/snowboarding equipment including a helmet
• Attend required trainings and on-snow instructor training
• Monitor shifts and maintain good attendance
• Communicate with supervisors and leadership
• Follow resort and department policies
• Provide guests with lesson experiences that exceed expectations
• Identify guest needs through observation and communication
• Collaborate with leadership to address guest experience issues
• Pursue educational opportunities to enhance skills
• Represent Solitude and the Ski & Ride School professionally
• Maintain a professional appearance and class records
• Complete guest progress reports and feedback forms
• Maintain accurate timekeeping for assignments
• Contribute to other department tasks as needed
