Job summary

Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit, Maine seeks experienced Scenic Painters to provide overhire support for the 2026 Season Mainstage Production of SMALL TOWN, a World Premiere John Mellencamp Musical.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders, and following renderings and color recipes.

Position is W2, $20/hour with OT, shared housing, and health insurance eligibility after 120 days of service.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in scenic painting for theater.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours.
• Detail-oriented with ability to follow renderings and recipes.
• Able to work independently and with team.

Responsibilities

• Create samples from renderings and reference materials.
• Maintain detailed log of procedures and recipes.
• Work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Work from paint elevations and reference materials.
• Maintain an organized workspace.
• Lift/move equipment and climb ladders.
