Job summary

Wawona Frozen Foods, Inc. is seeking a Seasonal Sanitation Technician to support our Cedar or Alluvial plant locations in California. The role focuses on plant cleansing, sanitation, pest control, and adherence to GMPs and food-safety standards.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, operate with PPE, and collaborate with sanitation and production staff to meet quality goals. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs while maintaining attendance

  • Sanitation experience is preferred.

  • Must be punctual and regular attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the safety program to maintain a healthy, injury-free environment.
  • Attend training and company meetings to support growth.
  • Follow GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies.
  • Notify and address issues within the scope of work.
  • Wear required PPE and maintain hygiene standards.
  • Clean floors and production equipment with water hoses.
  • Handle waste with 5-gallon buckets and proper disposal.
  • Work with sanitation supervisor and production personnel on issues.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk most of the shift.
  • Be flexible to work at Cedar or Alluvial locations (2nd/graveyard shifts).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The role of a Seasonal Sanitation Technician with Wawona Frozen Foods will be involved in all activities related to food security and sanitation programs. As a sanitation technician, they will be responsible for plant cleansing, sanitation, and pest control. Additional responsibilities are being in compliance with GMP's sanitation policies and procedures.

DUTIES INCLUDE
  • Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods' Safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
  • Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
  • Compliance with all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
  • Empowered to notify and/or act in response to any issues or concerns within the scope of work.
  • Wear all the required personal protective equipment.
  • Good time management skills
  • Maintains a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production.
  • Meet timelines.
  • Uses water hose to clean floors and production equipment.
  • Uses high pressure water hose to clean floors and production equipment.
  • Uses shovel to discard waste product.
  • Fills 5-gallon buckets of waste product and discards waste.
  • Works with around chlorine products and sanitizing chemicals.
  • Must be able to use PPE (personal protective equipment) (PPE equipment provided).
  • Works closely with sanitation supervisor and production personnel on sanitation problems.
  • Must be able to follow and understand all company and regulatory product quality standards, sanitation standards, food safety standards, employee safety and environmental standards.
  • Report any product and/or equipment issues to your immediate supervisor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand/walk on feet 95 % of shift.
  • Must be flexible in schedule and able to work in Clovis and/or Fresno plant (24 hours' notice).
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor or manager.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise and in cold temperatures.
  • Stand and walk, feel, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally requested to sit and talk or hear.
  • A fast-paced environment that requires high attention to details and minimal down time.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work flexible/varying schedules to support the team, customers, and deadlines.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and ability to see all colors.
  • Wear appropriate personal protection equipment and adhere to dress code as outlined for working in a food manufacturing facility.
