Job description

What you'll do

The Bar-back is responsible for anticipating the needs of Bartenders to ensure they have everything they need to serve customers efficiently. Their duties include replacing kegs, restocking glasses and other supplies needed to make drinks and maintaining a clean dining space throughout their shift. Our ideal candidate will be available to work mid-day, nights and weekends between the months of May-October. This is a seasonal position.

Responsibilities

• Perform opening/closing tasks.
• Keep the bar stocked with liquor, syrups, glasses, napkins and all other necessary items before and during service hours.
• Prepare garnishes, refill ice wells, change beer kegs and restock napkins and straws.
• Clean up spills, remove glassware and organize the counter.
• Keep the bar area neat and clean.
• Coordinate with managers and Bar staff to ensure efficient service to customers.
• Handle emergency situations, like cleaning up broken glasses and clearing clogged drains.
• Relay key info to security, such as if a line is forming outside, if someone is drinking out of an outside bottle, and if someone appears to be underage or too rowdy.
• Assist with entering orders into the PoS system, as needed.
• Answer customer questions regarding menu items, specials, etc.

What You Need to Get the Job Done (Minimum Qualifications)

• Must be at least 21 years or older.
• Must be available to work Wednesday-Sunday, afternoons & evenings.
• Must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Possess a basic knowledge of liquors, spirits, beers, wines and flavor profiles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
• Must have the ability to handle money and operate a POS system.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to multitask while being detail oriented.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time; walks and stands during entire shift.
• Basic computer, reading and mathematical skills.
• Professional and calm demeanor under pressure, and treat others with respect.

What Will Make Us Really Love You (Preferred Qualifications)

• 2+ years’ experience in a high-volume establishment.
• Knowledge of inventory tracking and ordering processes.
• Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, workplace safety procedures.
