Job summary

Michaels is seeking a Material Handler - Equipment Operator in our Centralia distribution center to support inbound and outbound freight safely and accurately.

You'll operate manual and powered equipment, perform safety inspections, and participate in a range of DC duties including Receiving, Putaway, Order Picking and eComm fulfillment while maintaining accurate logs and records. Must have basic computer skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalency preferred.
• 2-4 years of prior use of manual and/or powered industrial equipment.
• Demonstrated success working in a production environment.
• Reach Truck or Order Picker certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload inventory using manual and/or powered equipment.
• Operate reach truck and/or order picker to fulfill shipping and receiving orders.
• Complete periodic safety training and inspections; report maintenance needs.
• Document production logs; track changes in assignments and downtime.
• Assist in Receiving, Labeling, Putaway, Order Picking, Replenishment, and other warehouse tasks.

DC-CentraliaThe Material Handler - Equipment Operator may fulfill multiple roles in the Distribution Center environment to help fulfill overall mission to process Inbound and/or Outbound freight accurately, timely, and safely.

Major Activities

• Utilizes manual and/or powered industrial equipment to load and unload inventory.
• Utilizes material handling equipment (reach truck and/or order picker/cherry picker) to fulfill shipping and receiving orders.
• Completes periodic safety training on the operation of machinery.
• Performs routine inspections of equipment and notifies leader of maintenance needs.
• May perform one or more of a variety of functions in a Distribution Center environment associated with fulfilling orders for retail stores and/or other Distribution Centers. Potential work assignments include Receiving, Labeling, Putaway, Order Picking, Slotting, Replenishment, eComm order fulfillment, Hybrid throwing, Loading, and other "specialty" roles that require additional training/experience (e.g., Inventory Control).
• Documents production log appropriately to include changes in assignments, downtime, meetings, etc. to ensure productivity records are accurate.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting and carrying of product weighing 5 to 60 pounds
• Frequent pushing or pulling of material and/or equipment
• Frequent standing when working and when driving powered industrial equipment
• Frequent walking, primarily in the warehouse
• Regular reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting
• Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers

Work Environment

• Exposure to extreme temperatures dependent on external climate and proximity to dock doors/exits
• Moderate noise level from DC conveyor/sortation system and powered industrial equipment
• Occasional vibration if/when operating powered industrial equipment
• Potential exposure to fumes and airborne particles

Total Base Pay Range for this Position:

$17.13 - $21.60This position may be eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with state and local laws.
