Job Description

Clatsop County, located in the northwest corner of Oregon, is bordered by the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. Named after the Clatsop Indians, the county is known for its rich history, scenic landscapes, and opportunities.

Position: Seasonal Road Maintenance Worker
Salary: $17.36 to $21.10 per hour
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week (10-hour days), approximately May to September

About Clatsop County

Clatsop County is one of Oregon's nine Home Rule counties. It is governed by five non-partisan elected Commissioners and a full-time County Manager overseeing daily operations. The county provides services through ten divisions, including Public Works, Assessment and Taxation, Budget and Finance, and others. The Facilities Department reports to the County Administration division.

The Position

This role provides seasonal support in maintaining, installing, and repairing roads and bridges. It involves routine tasks with training and guidance in road maintenance. The position is part of a promotional career path, with potential progression to a Road Maintenance Worker Trainee based on qualifications and business needs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a flagging certificate within 10 days of hire.
  • Equivalent education, experience, and training that provides necessary skills and knowledge.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of heavy equipment training.
  • Certificates in work zone traffic control (flagging), herbicide application, and/or CPR/First Aid.
  • Experience in road maintenance within a public works department.
  • Completion of OSHA 10-hour training.
