Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden in New York, NY seeks a Seasonal Program Assistant to support the Exhibitions & Public Programming department in executing public programs for visitors. You will help with advance preparations, run of show, and assisting with setup, crowd management, and data collection.

This position is visitor-facing and requires Saturday and Sunday daytime/evening shifts. You will work with staff and volunteers, coordinate with operations, security, and Visitor Experience, and

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service and/or programs/events.
• Familiarity with cultural institutions and related programming.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Prompt and attentive to detail.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Set up, activate, and breakdown a diverse array of public programming including lectures, tours, performances, and markets.
• Assist artists/performers with load-in/out, transportation, and hospitality needs such as escort and greenroom tidiness.
• Learn basic setup and troubleshooting of speakers and lighting; familiarity with QSC speakers and mixer setups is preferred.
• Coordinate with volunteers, freelancers, and interns to delegate tasks and ensure smooth operations.
• Collect, retain, and update program data (visitor counts, post-event recaps) for departmental records.
• Coordinate with Operations, Security, and Visitor Experience to execute assigned tasks.
